Edge of Consciousness by Cire, from the album, Wholesale Buyout (Genome Records, 2006). www.myspace.com/thecire

There's life after death, you just won't be there at all.

You wouldn't want to be anyway, while it decays... Be glad you won't.

Awareness rests upon the beating of your heart, the firing of nerves,

and the actions of a universe of tiny little branches for every single thought

required for the concept of what you think you are.

I've reached the edge of consciousness and stared across in the abyss...

With pupils wide, my lungs expand... a million years inside my hand.

This is all that we are, so why is it so hard to accept?

No one is watching over us, no one will save what we neglect.

Awareness rests upon the beating of your heart, the firing of nerves,

and the actions of a universe of tiny little branches for every single thought

required for the concept of what you think you are.

Chastised or burned at the stake, we silence the few who awake.

This is all that we are, so why is it so hard to accept?

No one is watching over us, no one will save what we neglect.

This is all that we are, so why is it so hard to accept?

No one is watching over us, no one will save what we've wrecked.

This is my first ever hearing of cire. Never even heard about them. And I was blown away. That shit was genius. Hope everything else I'm about to listen to by them isn't pale or poor in comparison.

Except Tool and A Perfect Circle have the same parents (or are siblings), so their kids would effectively be first cousins. :S

Don't get me wrong I'm a huge Tool fan but I've read a lot of your comments giving them 100% credit for the progressive art rock genre and that is not the case. David Gilmore and Roger Waters of Pink Floyd were doing prog art rock before the members of Tools parents even hooked up. Tool for sure pushed the art further than the Floyd ever could but without their influence we may have never had such great songs like Jimmy or Reflection

no its impossible that tool influenced this band because no bands came before this one...every band is original

I find it annoying when someone compares any prog. rock/art rock band to Tool just because they were one of the pioneers behind the style. With that attitude, all music sounds like someone or something else. I think this sounds like Cire. Enough said.
