genre doesnt matter much, but its nice to type in a genre and get certain bands, instead of typing in metal and getting a range of bands from cannible corpse and gorgoroth (which i dislike) to Tool, mastodon(which i like) and avenged sevenfold, bullet for my valentine (which i also dislike) i guess its nice to able to be specific for your listening needs. its usless to argue about genres though you are right about that10 years ago
