Christopher Cross - Deal 'em again 1983

You pick up the cards

that they're dealing to you

You can throw down or showdown

The bluff makes a fool out of you

The ante goes up and your luck runs down

It's a strange game

It's a damn shame

But somebody's going to lose

It don't matter lose or win

You can deal 'em again

Deal 'em again

A handful of hearts

and you're playing to win

It goes down and you're put down

And that takes it all out of you

One last hand and you're going for broke

The cards fall and you take all

Just when you thought you were through

It don't matter lose or win

You can deal 'em again

Deal 'em again

Deal 'em again

Deal 'em again

(Instrumental)

It don't matter lose or win

You can you can you can deal 'em again

Deal 'em again

Deal 'em again

You pick up the cards

that they're dealing to you

You can throw down or showdown

The bluff makes a fool out of you

The ante goes up and your luck runs down

It's a strange game

It's a damn shame

But somebody's going to lose

It don't matter lose or win

You can deal 'em again

Deal 'em again

Deal 'em again

Deal 'em again

You can deal 'em again

Deal 'em again

Deal 'em again

You can deal 'em again

Great composer, singer and guitar player. Cross had all what I wanted to be.

I love the fact he didn't mime this. I saw a few videos on shows he even sings over the backing track. I hate when artists mime. It's a pile of shit. Whats the point of miming the songs you write on TV! It's a disgrace!

Guitar solo by Jay Graydon. Jacket by Members Only. He always had the best studio guys (and others) on his recordings, but is definitely a "player" in his own right.

CC had a voice like an angel. I loved album "Another Page," a terrific follow-up to his debut LP.

This song was originally composed by Michael 'Mace' Maben from Ft. Worth, Texas. When Chris was asked to produce Mace's group Texas (not the later famous group from England) in 1978 he did some rewrites and it became a co-authored piece. It was later recorded for Another Page in the summer of 1982.

@70Kenny The guy playing keyboards is Rob Meurer, who is Chris's songwriting partner and coproducer. He used to tour with Cross until sometime in the early 2000s.

I will never understand why this song was never a huge radio hit! I've never seen this vid before, but I'm going to be watching it often. I never knew Gary Ridgway the Green River Killer played keyboard for Christiopher Cross, though!
