WOW!!!!! where have I been? Christian Scott is the real deal......wonderful Jazz which keeps moving to open spaces. that allows for room to think and think and feel good about where you have arrived at and may want to travel. the musicians on this album are going to be invited to my home for a session. I am going to invite my great friends and allow everyone to enjoy Christian Scott. thanx to Kris Funn the spirited bass player with Mr. Scott who has continued in the tradition of Ron Carter and a long line of bass players even my father Bob Harper from the 50s.

WestSideOfJazzAnything built on a premise of improvisation, carries with it the sound of surprise, which is what jazz has done since its inception. Its what Bird did, what Miles did, what Bill Evans did, what Coltrane did, what Miles did again, what Ornette Coleman did, what Miles did once again, and I think you get my point. In his own way, wunderkind Christian Scott is fulfilling both that legacy and promise. Breathtakingly beautiful and poignantly probing abides here.
