Chris Rea - Out Of The Darkness from "Water Sign" Album 1983.

"Water Sign" is the fifth studio album by Chris Rea, released in 1983. It was one of the best-known albums by Chris Rea. I Can Hear Your Heartbeat was the most well-known song on the album.

There is an extremely interesting history to this album: When Rea approached the record company with his demo's for his latest album project - 'Water sign' - they showed very little interest at all... Eventually, the record company agreed to release it AS IS, and didn't promote the album at all. Rea actually said in interviews that after this album he considered packing the whole thing in and going to work in the family ice cream business! What you are hearing on this album is a rare 'peek' into Rea's music BEFORE the studio producers got to it. There is a reason why Chris gets the credits as main musician on this album: It's a DEMO album, recorded by him! For pure interest value alone, it's a worthy addition to your Rea catalogue. However, that's not to say that the music on this album ISN'T worth listening to-it most certainly is. The oh-so-beautiful Nothings Happening By Sea - gorgeous in it's laid back simplicity... Simply brilliant stuff... The record company are probably kicking themselves!!!

Lyrics :

There's an empty street in an empty town

There's an old boutique selling aging gowns

Some words on the walls that were written

By the light of the moon so bright

Can you hear me, can you hear me tonight

Take me out of this darkness and in to the morning light

The rain that falls doesn't make me cry

And the wind that blows cannot hurt my eyes

But the things that I see when I turn on TV

Make me wanna lie down and die

Can you hear me, can you hear me tonight

Take me out of this darkness and in to the morning light

Can you hear me

Take me out of this darkness and in to the morning light....

(((HQ))) There's an empty street in an empty town. There's an old boutique selling aging gowns. Some words on the walls that were written. By the light of the moon so bright. Can you hear me, can you her me tonight? Take me out of this darkness and in to the morning light. The rain that falls doesn't make me cry. And the wind that blows cannot hurt my eyes. But the things that I see when I turn on TV. Make me wanna lie down and die. Can you hear me, can you her me tonight? Take me out of this darkness and in to the morning light. Can you hear me? Take me out of this darkness and in to the morning light.

Great memories and great days those days in October 1983, when I bought my "Water Sign" in a little record-shop in Cologne. Nobody there really knew who the artist was, but in the end, we found this vinyl. This song is still one of my favourites =:o). Awesome video!
