i never sat down and said 'ok, i'm gonna practice THIS until i'm fast' I've just always played in bands that pushed me a lot - nothing will expand your playing faster than playing with other people (esp. in a band). as far as practicing, the only thing i definitely DO work on is practicing everything LEFT-foot lead as well as right-foot lead...that'll definitely help build control and power in your left foot as well as better coordination. (practicing to a metronome is ALWAYS good too, btw!)

Ya, mind if I ask what you did to get so fast at singles? Just lots of playing with a Met or what? Sorry I am being so question oriented, just don't get to ask questions like this much...and how you got so fast at singles with your left foot?

yeah, all singles except for some paradiddles on the ride pattern here and there. i tune my drums lower for metal, so not only is it hard to play rudiments cause of little bounce, but you also just can't get the same volume needed for loud music like that using rudiments

Do you play everything with singles? Like the double pass patterns? the fills and such...or do you use doubles and paradiddles and the such...just wondering...always impressed with the blast beats..I think that is what they are called...
