Everything you think is 'better' about these guys is exactly what RATM/Audioslave do brilliantly and is what is missing here i.e not sounding schooled and 'trained' etc etc. Anyone can train themselves but what really moves people is individuality and literally 'soulpower' - which no one can copy, hence this sounds sterile. Just listen to Rick Rubin describing why he suggested Brad to play for Sabbath, it sums up exactly what is so special about him and Rage

LOL..."noobs". These two lads, unlike Morello, are well trained hard rock guitarists. They litterally beat the shit out of him in technical skills. This entire band that Chris brought on the '07 and '09-solo tour are all excellent musicians. This song in particular is maybe not best example but they made most of Audioslave songs sound better than original (solo on "Be yourself" is excellent example), cause these guys know how to play guitar (they don't use it as DJ-turntable).
