Experimental recording of Etude Op.10 No.6 at around dotted crotchet = 60 with rubato added. It's a little slower than Chopin's own MM of dotted crotchet = 69. It's still roughly 2 to 3 times faster than the tempo we're used to today.

Op.10 No.6 at MODERATE FAST MM of dotted crotchet = 69.

It is good to hear Chopin given the respect he deserves, by playing as he directed. I think the 'song' (groan) is quite different played at the correct tempo, and it is tempting to prefer what we are used to, but I actually think it is more interesting at a faster pace.Thank you Paul.

Hi! I love your tutorials, they are very well elaborated, and helped me a lot. And I love Chopin's work very much, so can you please upload a tutorial for Chopin's Nocturne Op 27 No 1? I love that piece, that dark melody. But I can't play the climax very well... So pleeeeeeease...

Love this experiment. I think it sounds quite good, almost right at the faster tempo, to the point maybe it wasn;t a mistake by Chopin. The ultimate test of tempo markings would be Op 10 No 3 at the marked tempo, that would be super interesting to hear

Love it! I now got a headset, and dont have to listen to all of this amazing music via horrible laptop speakers, and of course, the experience is greater than ever before!!

Hi Paul,Wonderful expression, I like this tempo with a more clear rolling bass. Tempo 69 felt a bit more hurried, but that may also be due to the more relaxed use of rubato in this version. I still like the fact that the melody line comes across as more fluid and cohesive in comparison with the slower versions, it really adds another layer in terms of expression. Also thanks for all the uppercase WARNINGS :-) We may get shocked by all this modernistic uptempo playing.... :-)
