Mano is right. Chill Rob G never originally recorded "The Power." It was a song that German producers created using his vocal samples from "Let The Words Flow." Those producers eventually called themselves Snap! and replaced the rap lyrics with Turbo B's vocals because of legal issues.Bottom line: This version is also technically by Snap! It's the version they created first before re-releasing it with Turbo B.

Who stole from who ? Chill Rob G, found out that the german producers had used his vocal on their track, The Power was in 1989 out on a few 12" white label, just to test the record in the clubs. Now, Chill Rob G, just took the record as the german producers had out on these few 12" white labels, and released it as it was under his own name > Chill Rob G - The Power. This is true story…

It's not true that this is the original version of Chill. But it´s true that it is the voice of Chill Rob G. It's sampled from a accapella version of Chill´s rap "Let the words flow". The two german DJ´s that made "I got power", first used the sampled voice of Chill Rob´s rap on there melody that they created. The melody is not the same on the original "Let the words flow", Later "Snap" connect Turbo B (Durron Maurice Butler) and asked him to do the rap and write new rap lyrics. Because when Chill Rob G found out that "Snap" used his voice. Chill made a copy of snaps record "I got the power" and gave it out with his name on the lable. In the beginning of the 90´s many DJ take vocals from other songs and put them on there own songs. Example Black box "Ride on time", it's the sampled voice of Loleatta Holloway from the song "Love sensation". It's the same thing. I don´t say it's right. But it's wrong to call this version, the original of Chill Rob G. Then should listen to "Let the words flow", That is the original. Dont get confused when you listen, they lyrics on "Let the words flow" dont start same as on " I got the power". The lyrics on "I got the power" comes a bit later inside.

If you can't get yourself to want to dance to this beat then get off planet earth. That beat is like timeless.

While you are all correct in placing this tune ahead of Snaps own effort, I would suggest you go have a listen to Princess Ivorys' tune Wanted! This was earlier still than this!!!

I'm just learning for the first time now that Snap stole/remixed this from Chill Rob G. The sound and backbeat are awesome here, no doubt about that. I stopped this video at 1:00 because the lyrics. While this might be a powerful song, and I'm certain that people's opinions are coloured by which version they heard first, the vocals just don't do it for me, personally. When I hear the singer from Snap I get chills! They turned out an amazing dance tune, but I'm sure Chill Rob G put this song out to be a powerful message. So one way to think about it is that both versions of the song have different goals.
