No. The theatrical had an interesting asthetic, but as someone whose read and loves the books, it failed at allowing anyone who hadn't really read them to get what was going on... Sad really. It's such a rich story too. Still, I like the costuming and effects of the original, time period of filming considered.

I think the TV series adaptation--both of them--put the theatrical version of DUNE to shame. I wonder if I'm the only one who feels that way.........?

@nicochueco would be nice but The Arrival of Lady Jessica first. The lady hated the planet. It took all the attention of men, so it was not enough for women. Stilgar understood it, so he tried to present Arrakis to Jessica as substitute for Leto. Whole scene looks chivalric. :)
