*Three And A Half Letters* is off of the second album. This is a refreshing take on politically motivated songs. This is more than a social commentary by the band but a purging of emotion by the guys. Every time I hear this song it make me angry and sad at the same time. Even if Chickenfoot did help out letters writers by giving them money, they'd be crazy to publicize that by giving songwriting credit. There'd be no end to people writing them, hiping to inspire a song and get a piece of it. They all donate to charity, though.11 years ago

The song is only credited to Sammy Hagar and Joe Satriani, so no royalties to anyone else. Watching the "making of" video for this tune, I took it that none of these letters are verbatim, but have been constructed to match the melody.. One letter was from a soldier returning from Afghanistan stating he wasn't asking for money, just needed a job. Because their manager Carter had been asking for a "I need a Job' kind of song, it seems that soldier's letter was the starting point for this song.11 years ago
