How can you rate those best rock guitarists? They all have so different styles and attitudes. But yes; Terry is surely underrated! He had so tight touch and virtualism, if that was called out from the band. I love to hear that always. It looks like hypnotic, how he sometimes is getting into the song by taking some lines out of his guitar for getting into right mood...Magical! Unique somehow. Comparing him to anyone near those skills don't get this this nowhere, cos he was his own person in that time. Interesting all the ways like guitarists like Jimi, Jeff Beck, Paco De Lucia, Dick Dale, Syd Barret, Marzi Nyman, Dave Gilmour, Mark Knopfler, my favourite (also damn underrated) Buck Dharma, Steve Lukather etc...hmm Jimmy Page, Tony Iommi, Carlos Santana. Very interesting anyways to follow Terry's paths sometimes, when got into that kind of musical mood. I don't really get, how his death happened, when i read that from Wikipedia. I thought before, that it was playing russian roulette, but looks it was not the case. R.I.P anyways for such a magical musician,

The best way to demonstrate to classic rock listeners how exciting and innovative Terry Kath was would be to produce a radio showcase, alternating between Hendrix' best-known studio/live recordings and examples of Terry's sound. They'll be thinking they're by the same guitarist after the first 20 minutes.

...but if you describe the rest of the band as a "train wreck" then the driver of the train (Engineer) was Terry Kath. And although it was an accident, it was still a careless action and his own responsibility.

I have no harsh words for the other members of the band. Yes they lost Terry, (lead vocal/lead guitar) & no band could lose these leads without being devastated, ...but with 6 band members left, were they supposed to stop making music, stop playing the old songs? What would you do if you were one of the remaining members? I loved Terry and still do. ...but if you

THIS is Chicago.....not the"train wreck "that tours today. This was poorly recorded....but you can tell that the performance was really good. I remember that tour in 1977. I saw them at three major venues in NYC that year.

yeah that is pretty strange.! I like Terry more than Jimmy. Do you think "maybe" Hendrix is a little over rated??

Yeah, it is very sad ... pathetic in fact that Terry isn't give the respect and credit he deserves! Chicago was playing at the Whiskey a Go-Go in LA in 1968. Jimmy Hendrix was there ... he said to Walt Parazaider (sax), "Hey man, your guitarist is better than me" and then said to Chicago's manager, "Man, I'm pretty good, but that cat blows me away" -- what a huge set of compliments. Terry must have been thrilled, as he was in awe of Hendrix.
