Video/Audio/Interview/Pictorial look back to CHICAGO's historic performance at Geraldo Rivera's May 20, 1977 'One-to-One' benefit for the mentally retarded at NY's Nassau Coliseum. The director recently stated "We built 100 community homes for people with developmental disabilities with help from CHICAGO, Stevie Wonder and John Lennon we then used our knowledge to protect 22,000 acres and have been for 14 years building a center on bereavement and resilience."

One-to-One was developed after the horrors of the Willowbrook State School were revealed in Geraldo's 1972 film 'Willowbrook: The Last Disgrace'. John Lennon saw the film and partnered with Geraldo to headline the first concert in 1972. In 1987, Willowbrook was permanently closed.

Personally, this performance of Mississippi Delta City Blues is incredible. Terry's guitar tone is so funky in the intro and becomes a blazing hot wall of sound; his vocal is also mighty fine. Danny is driving the band with incredible energy. Everyone sounds great. "Old days, good times I remember."

I remember MY FIRST Chicago concert EVER was the free concert on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway with Grover Washington Jr. in Philadelphia back in 1987. I can't be sure of the exact date but one of the Emcee's for the show stated that the performance that night was the 20th anniversary of the groups 1st performance as Chicago (I think the location was ???Shula's Supper Club in Niles Michigan??). If anyone else has book from the Live at Carnegie Hall the back page will tell you where it was.

Thanks, Kid, for posting this! Any chance you can post the original "Mississippi Delta City Blues" from Chicago XI? My posting has been blocked! While you're at it, how about "Uptown" from that same album?

Rare stuff... and rare seeing Lee Loughnane playing trumpet starting this tune, instead of a flugelhorn. Thanks for the post, Jamie!

I just listened to both of these on my Ipod earlier today. Been a fan since I first heard them in '72. Once a fan of chicago, always a fan.

My God. Anyone who only knows the Chicago of "Look Away" or whatever the newer stuff, needs to hear this performance. My very first concert was seeing Chicago right there at the Nassau Coliseum in November 1976, I was 12 and not into KISS or whatever else my friends were into, but full-on serious Chicago worship. It was a combination of wide-eyed awe and whatever other things go on for a 12-year-old budding musician. One of the high points of my life. Thanks so much for posting this.

@shauner1108 I was at that concert in 1977 at the nassau coliseum and it was smoking. In 1986 I was in LA on vacation and went to pay my respects to the great guitarist Terry Kath's grave.

About 3 months ago while I was in L.A. I looked up the location of Terry Kath's gravesite and came to find out it was about 10 minutes from my hotel. With some help of the Forrest Lawn staff I was able to locate where Terry was burried and pay my respects to a musician who's music and talent still effect me to this day and will continue to for many many years to come. R.I.P. Terry!
