The singer here is Cetera, not Kath. I do agree this is a fantastic song.

When I was a kid and bought this - V was my first album - I loved this song but wished it had more verses. But I now realize it is perfectly constructed. Goodbye and Beginnings probably my two Favourite Chi songs, closely followed by 25 or 6 to 4 and Feelin' Stronger. Bass line here is incredible_ pays off to listen to this song on headphones, so much going on musically

I think this may be their most sophisticated and harmonically complex piece; it's certainly their most jazz-influenced, and showcases all the stuff they did best: clean brass ensemble playing, close vocal harmony, and their ability to turn on a dime between different styles: straight rock, free jazz, Beach-boys style harmonizing...that close-harmony ninth chord at the beginning still gives me goosebumps when I hear it.

I transcribed the bass part for this song. It was a lot of work (8 pages of manuscript). The meter changes from 6 to 7 to 6 to 4 and back to 6 (not to be confused with 25 or 6 to 4). To think Pete Cetera was probably in his mid-twenties when he recorded it. Great player!I think Chicago V is probably my all-in-all (song-for-song) favorite of theirs.

Love Chicago, huge fan. Gotta say this is my fave LP, and I think this jazzy tune is best song on it.

My Dad surprised me with this album the Summer of 1972. We had ceiling speakers in our dining room, but the stereo was in the living room. He cued it at A Hit by Varese from the beginning with low volume....I thought it was the neighborhood band down the street so I went to the back door to hear....then, I recognized that Chicago vocals...I screamed, "Dad, you got it!!"
