It doesn't get any better than this. If you're in a band and you're not half as good as this, don't give up your day job.

@Stolehome66 Robin also lived in Chicago as a kid, he told me that himself. He is a master of voices and accents. This song happens to capture the south suburban accent. Widen your horizons, there could be many accents from one person.

@sallysrock It is not a Chicago accent. It is a southern Wisconsin/northern Illinios accent. Robin Zander is from Beloit, Wisconsin. Beloit is just above Rockford, Illinois. A Chicago accent is very different from the way Robin Zander sings and speaks.

And, lest I forget, one of their most unfairly overlooked gems as far as the song goes. While the first couple of albums were good in different ways, "Heaven Tonight" was the one which REALLY found them establishing their style, combining the straight-up bronto stomp of the debut, with the Melodic, hook-laden songcraft of "In color", to make for their best album of the pre-Budokan period.

You know, if you think about it-It might be safe to say that Robin Zander seemed to almost pioneer that whole proto-Miami Vice getup that would set the standard for what Rock stars were supposed to look like in the rest of the 80's:The leather blazer w/the rolled up sleeves, and the shirt buttoned at the Top with a Bolo tie, and the pleated slacks.

In addition to beautiful hair styles, Robin Zander always seemed to have exquisite taste in clothing. I love that suit.

This has always been one of my favourite Trick songs, and this version is sublime. Amazing.

I wish they would play this in concert! It is such a great song live. Plus Robins Chicago accent is great in this song!! Fuck That 70's show song! Bring back OTOTW!

Their songs really stand up in concert. Some bands are not the same out of the studio but CHEAP TRICK is the real deal.

wow man i've heard a few vintage late 70s takes of this song (e.g., budokan ii) but this might be the hottest performance i can recall! thanks so much for posting this.

great video, great times. You can see from this video why Rick invented the 5 neck guitar, he used to load up all those guitars on his neck, can you imagine how heavy that got?
