Re: Daxx's drumming. I really like Daxx's playing with CT. About a month ago I attended a Miles Nielsen and the Rusted Hearts gig (Miles is Rick's son too and he is awesome, check him out.). That night Daxx filled in on the bass and he was on fire! I've known both those guys since the 90s and they are the nicest people. Rick must be proud. As it is, Daxx LOVES to play and seems to be multi-talented as well. I wish Bun was back on the drums live, but till that day comes, rock on Daxx!

@onthemoveagain I certainly cannot argue with that.

@onthemoveagain You got lampooned above, and I sort of defended you--but I do wonder what you mean. Daxx, despite his appearance of being less aggressive at the kit, does have an efficiency of motion you typically see in older drummers. He gets the job done--and doesn't try to imitate Bun E's style. On one hand, you'd want him to "play like the man," but he somehow complements and brings his own character. I'm not sure that "lacks authority." Thoughts?

@misterspeed11 Respectfully, perhaps you should START sounding like you know what you're talking about. (I say that as a friend and member of hardcore CT fandom.) How does Daxx's playing strike you?

JC Haywire

@misterspeed11 Fair enough to say, but you'd want to offer some--ANY--supporting point. I love Daxx, and he's a great new fuel to the band, but saying he has no authority to his playing could easily be a valid point. His approach is quite laid back compared to Bun E's tense syncopated style. "Lacking authority," although not a compliment, is certainly apt. What you got?

Any link to the tab or notation for this tune? Ever source I see over-simplifies it and doesn't use the same voicings--and especially leaves out that awesome thing in the middle that's a little like The Who's "Sparks." Anything?

@dukeofkbs I more or less agree with you--but damn Daxx makes this song cook. That kid's havin' a ball.

Hearing Rick yank up on F#>G bend on the bottom--that's one of his great moves. He's got a huge fuzzy sound, but keeps it crisp with those ornaments.

@dukeofkbs I have to agree with you there. This tune is a balls-to-the-wall guitar freakout. The piano, while very good, takes it off the track somewhat. Daxx singing? That's awesome. Image him as a toddler, learning this song. Now he's playing it onstage. An awesome pure Cheap Trick tune.
