Just a little history lesson for those who don't know the story. Young Miles Davis was in Bird's band at the time but still not quite competent enough to play Koko. So Dizz ended up playing the trumpet part. The piano player never showed for the session (I don't remember why) so Dizz had to play the piano as well. The drum solo was to kill time while Dizz could pick up his trumpet and get back to the mic.

You know what. I wanted to be a jazz player since I was six. But parents ban my idea. At 14teen I bought myself a guitar and, yes, I'm good with it.Now at 36 I finnally got a tenor sax and wish I did it earlier. BUT I cant listen to Charlie too much!  Sometimes I listen to Chet Baker or Ben Webster and think that It's possible. But when Iisten to Charlie, well. That's too much.

Look, I am pretty good at improvisation. I'm a Grade 8 Jazz Saxophonist, I just happen to really dislike bebop. Considering one of my exam pieces was a Charlie Parker piece (Donna Lee) trust me when I say I appreciate that what he's playing is technically brilliant, but musically a bit poor.
