The white looked a little askance at him and the black felt that he betrayed them.
So in the beginning of Charley Pride's career, he must have felt lonely and a little outside.
But fortunately for all of us who like country music and Charley Pride's voice, so the picture changed and today you can't understand why it was so.
The Happiness Of Having You is both a single and a hit album of 1975 and into in 1976. Maybe not one of his most famous, but in my opinion one of the best from Charley Pride

I remember the first time I heard Charley Pride sing. Someone told me he was black. I was surprised, but only because I had never heard a black man singing country music. I liked his singing then and I still do. To me it was the same as listening to Fats Domino, Little Richard, Nat King Cole and any number of black singers. I was never bothered by the fact that he was black. I would like to believe that the majority of people that liked country music, could recognize his talent and accept him for that.
