Remember Charlene Duncan? In 1977, her second single from her self-titled debut album (and follow-up to her #97 single "It Ain't Easy Goin' Down"), "I've Never Been To Me" peaked at Billboard's Hot 100 at #97. In 1982, DJ Scott Shannon, gave the song some airplay and a new chart life. A spoken monologue was added, the song re-released, and went on the hit #3 on Hot 100. "Freddie" is Charlene's 3rd single release in 1977, and the only release from her 2nd album "Songs Of Love". This touching tribute to the late Freddie Prinze, was her highest charter of the three songs, getting as high as #96. Maybe Scott Shannon should have given this song a new life, for this deserved a better chart fate.
