Totally agree with you, ThatMysteryPainist! I love being surprised! This is something that is becoming more an more difficult with this young generation of pseudo-jazz singers/musicians. Girl singers specially with their sexy looks and their lowfi-musak approach. Champian Fulton is a very welcome breath of fresh air on today's vocal jazz panorama as you very rightly described.

This young lady has everything: perfect piano technique, the ability to swing, improvise, a singing style that seems so un-affected, so un-influenced by modern pop styles, straight out of the traditions of Jazz from 50 + years ago. There's nothing wrong with recent music, but it is refreshing and inspiring to see the young people interested and persuing our Songbook in a way that is accessible and straight ahead. Also, she's pretty easy on the eyes, nice clothes and makeup...the whole package.
