I see this as autobiographical of Chaka's life at the time. Romantically chaotic,locked into a cycle of self medication on drugs. All locked into a syndrome of personal self destruction. And this uses the cycle of romance,for her anyway,as a symbol for the whole "love is a form of madness" theory.

Chaka's music is so esoteric & the fact that those with mediocre IQs enjoy some of her body of work is a testament of her incredible talent!!! Chaka is a thinking man's(or woman's) singer!!! If you want vocal theatrics & meaningless throwaway lyrics for no valid reason then go elsewhere!!! However if your looking for your mind,body & soul to be stimulated then you know where to come!!!

I've been a Chaka fan from 'Rags to Rufus' til today, and this is absolutely my favorite album of hers. Nothing close. It's a shame it's not available as part of her U.S. CD catalog.

This song should have a been a single and there should have been a video. I could just see Chaka with all that hair rolling around on the floor of a padded room like Ms. Ross in Lady Sings the Blues and sAnging her ass off.
