Haha, finally found this song. I could always hum the chorus "its my party" but never knew the title of the song or lyrics or who was singing. Everytime I did a search it revealed only "Its my party, I cry if I want to.......Lesly Gore....So really gave up until I tried different search methods and thanks to great minds alike, this song popped up in my search and was the exact song that I was looking for.......Cheers.

For Me. this was One the best solo songs of Chaka that didnt get its props..the vocals are through the roof..liked this much better than feel for you..or sweet thing. i remember tis so well back in 88. Love of my life (at the time) got orders to go overseas(military) we were Never the same after that. but this song we played to death

Not to mention that was Whitney Houston's golden age! (Every Chaka fan should know Whitney through IEW!) I REALLY miss this particular era! Just old enough to catch the tail end of it! The '60s and '70s are SO overrated that the '80s/early '90s has really been. backlashed by today's hip-hop generation.
