How did we go from this to Justin Bieber in 50 short years.

Great "folk scare" version of this song. Great 12 string work

Really happy you posted this, Stefan. Is it possible for you to post 'The Hip Song' from the 'Reflecting' LP as well... It's such a great funny song...to us old folks. Thanks!

I'm old too: they sang this song on an old folk variety show called Hootenanny, but I had no idea what the song was & so misunderstood the words completely. Later we saw them in concert @an area high school; years hence, I found three of their vinyl albums in a cut-out bin & bought all of 'em (& finally learned the name of that song!).

I cried when I found this. Thanks so much for bringing it back. Fantastic, but Lord. I'm old.

Great song, great double album. Many of their albums are available on CD, and are well worth the buying. When I saw them many many years ago, Mitchell introduced the trio, with "My name is Chad Mitchell; I do *not* like to be referred to as 'the short blond one in the middle.'"

I came to their music freshman year at Wooster College, Ohio, fall of 1963. Just the best.

@rev21v3n4 - I grew up on this song also. "The Marvelous Toy" by the CMT too.

@stefanlofgren - Mostly right ...after McGuinn and before Denver. McGuinn never sang with them - he backed them on banjo and guitar from 1960-62; Denver joined when Mitchell left in 1965. The players here are (correctly) Chad Mitchell (tenor), Joe Frazier (baritone), and Mike Kobluk (second baritone). Instruments - Paul Prestopino and Jacob Ander, guitars; Bill Frigo, bass.

I think this is all the original trio before John Denver, McGuinn or anyone else for that matter. Joe Fraser, Mike Kobluk and Chad Mitchell (the tenor)...

The original Singin' Our Minds album is just fantastic....one of the best cuts is Four Strong Winds...the harmonies on that track were clear and sharp. DuBerry Gone Again was also a great cut...

Is this the first (original) cut of Brazos, or the version where Roger McGuin sings the high tenor. I remember a version, quite distinctly, where the tenor harmony takes off much higher into the song, a path that McGuin wasn't up to. Can you help me with this? Message SammDickens if you can give me any leads about where I might find that other version, an earlier version I believe. This one's great, but I can't get that other one out of mind, and it's become a quest for me. Thanks!

Thank you!! I've been looking all over God's internet for this version of Brazos for over three years. I had the original album in the 60's -- Brazos was my favorite cut. I've never heard another rendition of Brazos that even comes close to this one, but I'd given up hope of ever hearing it again, until finding your video. My 58th birthday's this coming Thursday. Happy birthday to me! Happy birthday to me!
