This was a lot better than I expected. Interesting that so many give credit to the Beatles. Listen to the oldest one you can find of the Isley brothers doing it. They were the second group to perform it, and they made a hit out of it. Their version has soul in it. Soul is hard for me to define, because I'm an old white guy, But I do recognize it .The Isley's were supposed to record it with Phil Spector, but the songwriter Bert Berns , "absolutely hated Spector's version because it killed the feel of the song", so he and the Isley's recorded it. That version is the hit, and contains the "soul" I'm talking about. It literally makes you want to get up and dance.
