PRESENTED BY ENA-HELENA EVER

A delicate intricacy and compelling vitality runs throughout their music. They know how to command your attention without being pushy or loud, using the most elegant of pauses to massive effect as the tender vocals of Johannes Eders (voc, guit) combine with the elaborate musical arrangements of Lukas Kargl (guit), Patrick Steinhuber (bass), Raphael Rameis (drums) and Maximilan Atteneder. Catastrophe and Cure have never shied away from taking risks and testing musical boundaries, this is when Sebastian Kargl’s synth and cello aspects come into play within their songs. Even from their humble beginnings as a school band it was clear that they had that little something extra about them. It came as no surprise to many fans and “early adopters” of the band that their critically acclaimed debut album “Like Crazy Doves” (produced by DIE FANTASTISCHEN VIER guitarist Markus Birkle) went straight in at number 2 on the FM4 (Austria’s radio station for independent music) charts after its release in 2012. Their rise since then has been astronomical to say the least. Within a year of the album coming out they were touring Austria and Germany, playing shows and festivals alongside the likes of Dry the River, Bush or Royal Canoe and winning Austria’s most important music prize – the AMADEUS Award along the way. With their recently released second studio album “Undeniable/Irresistible” the young sextet is coming of age and show off with their incredible musical skills. Minimalistic sounds meet dreamy layers of synthesiser – beats that are floating between harmony and melancholy.
