As a kid I grew up on Folly Beach ,Pawleys Island and Surfside/ .Garden City ..Myrtle Beach and OD.....Lifeguarded on Myrtle Beach /Captains Quarters ..Surfside and Garden City Pier's and Litchfield Beach....The tips were great at Litchfield...Favorite clubs were Castaways the home church of rock n roll...Was the DJ there from 72 78....Beach Club...After Deck Spanish Gallon......the pad....but the ARMY/NAVY was the wildest of them all....

i first heard this on a beach music show on radio station WFLO FROM FARMVILLE,VA.around 2003 and love it.found it on a various beach music CD about 2 years later(in 2006 i found this group's compilation CD.great stuff on it).great group.

I think I can find out exactly when it was written, recorded & released. One of the writers "BARKER BROTHERS PUBLISHING" Ithink owns and originaly wrote it. Also 3 or 4 Barker bro. are performing on it. I'll try to call or email one of them this week.

I got into Beach Music back in 1995 after listening to a BM radio show on an oldies station out of Lynchburg,Va that simulcasted on an Roanoke station. I was driving from Roanoke to Lynchburg and just came across it. Enjoyed what I heard on the 60 mile trek. Believe Sandy Hunter was the DJ. Short while later I purchased the Beach Music Box Set on the Ripete label. Good stuff that you don't hear here in Philly. Been playing cuts on the radio here.

Right on! My favorite genre of music, period. I don't even visit the beach all that much, but I really dig Carolina Beach music. it always puts me in a good mood.

Shucks, I believe people will still talk about the Drifters long after many of today's Disney "singers" are off the map. Classic stuff still hangs around. I would say more like who's going to remember Miley Cyrus or Justin Bieber in a few years. There are believe it or not young(er) adults and even teens who discover this earlier music and realize that today's stuff doesn't match up.

The society this music was made for doesn't exist anymore. There hasn't been any real "beach music" for 30+ years. It's sad really there was a time when the Grand Strand was a mecca for artists like catalinas & the drifters. They still come and have shows but the original guys are gone. It's been close to 50 years when "under the boardwalk" was a hit. Like everything else the time of the babyboomers is nearly over. Who will remember the Drifters? Does anyone know of Maurice Treadway?
