i loved it when she apologizes to the audience in the middle of the song like "i'm sorry" and then she goes all the way through because nobody noticed she did. (I mean, did she? ) she could be on drugs or whatever, but she still nailed it to give an amazing and breathtaking perfomance. a song so beautiful and stunning. wouuuld loooove to see her in my country. i think she came last year but no one spread the word about her show.

Although this was a very dark time for her, and it's bootleg quality, this is probably my all time favorite live performance video on the internets. To be in that little club in San Francisco in 1998 and witness her actually get all the way through this song without a total breakdown must have been something.

@marymary111 There may be a personal element to this song, but its mostly about child soldiers and the war diamond trade. She makes that clear on the more recent ACL version of this song, adding a verse about the Jesse Jackson - Charles Taylor connection. In the ACL version, listen to a) the background singers, b) what she's trying to do by going into "Satisfaction" right from Cross-bones. The band doesn''t quite follow her but that''s 'grown-up' Cat power.

i love that if you see cat power live, you will see a very different cat power. she has said that she doesn't see the point of singing the songs the way that you hear the on the album and i agree with her so much. this is an amazing performance.
