This was the only entertaining performance of hers. The other ones where songs that could impress people with her voice but people don't really like that music anymore so that's why I think she should stick to broadway shows

Simon was right! You could tell that Carly was uncomfortable with that. Look at her expression after the last note. She looked like she was ashamed. Reid was right, but he could have mentioned the song choice.Her "mentor" Spears couldn't wait to demorialize the young Carly. Spears has spent her whole career being demoralized.  Carly has way too much class and TALENT for this crap.Simon was right on, and Carly pretended to not eagerly agree with his statement. Probably due to some misplaced loyalty for her mentor. But her initial facial expression does not lie just after the song. She was demoralized.

It is not a crap song or a bad song for her voice, it is just the arrangement they put on the song ans the staging listen to the original. It is by Etta James called Something's Got a Hold on Me

I loved watching X Factor every week, but the main thing I've realized that I don't like about it is that the judges seem to care way too much about things like how they look, the production, and the "glam-star look" OVER their vocal abilities, talent, stage performance, and emotion in the song. Like basic qualities of a SINGER. They seem to care too much about the "performer" side, if you get what I'm saying.
