(Chorus)

Floret silva nobilis

Floribus et foliis.

(Small Chorus)

Ubi est antiquus

Meus amicus?

Hinc equitavit,

Eia, quis me amabit?

(Chorus)

Floret silva undique,

Nah min gesellen ist mir we.

(Small Chorus)

Gruonet der walt allenthalben,

Wa ist min geselle alse lange?

Der ist geriten hinnen,

O wi, wer sol mich minnen?

ON THE GREEN

7. THE NOBLE WOODS ARE BURGEONING

The noble woods are burgeoning

with flowers and leaves,

Where is the lover

I knew? Ah!

He has ridden off!

Oh! Who will love me? Ah!

The woods are burgeoning all over,

I am pining for my lover.

The woods are turning green all over,

why is my lover away so long? Ah!

He has ridden off,

Oh woe, who will love me? Ah!

I fell in love with Carmina Burana from the moment I first heard it at the Kennedy Center, here in DC.I was hooked on Carmina - especially, Floret Silva. Then I heard Gassenhauer from his School Works, which teaches children the instruments of an orchestra - beginning with a single instrument, then another, and another, until the climax of the full orchestra.
