this death vs carcass stuff is silly. carcass are way better songwriters. death has some more technical stuff on certain albums, but I find Steer's riffs and solos much more interesting.and this song is about making an instrument out of a dead person. that's fucking awesome.

The chord progression at 5:10 is strikingly similar to the chorus of Rio by Duran Duran. Straight out of a new wave song.

everybody should stop arguing about whos better Death or Carcass. it is not necessary to make such comparisons. both bands are quite different Death and Carcass are both the best bands of all time there is no "better" in this case there is only "awesome" which they both are

I´m on goOd old Hoffman tablet... and was like 6 hours listening to Codex and Micrologus ... amazing stuff... and came here to remember that spice...oriental spice that is in the core of this riff ... arabish music .... very similar works altought, this is death and yet the roots are the same...this song IS VERY EPICAL.

Death and Carcass are basically the same band. they started one way and ended pretty far off. i basically saw Carcass as the grindcore version of Death. personally, i'll always love Death more because Gene Hoglan is my favorite drummer of all time and Symbolic can never be beat when it comes to death metal. not to mention the founding members of Cynic contributed to the Death discography. they're both equally talented and equally rad. i only wish i could have seen them together

Death released three solid death metal albums and were one of the founders of death metal as we know it. My first point is that Carcass would be nowhere without Death's innovation. Then, they go on to release 4 absolutely impeccable technical/progressive death metal albums, something that once again they (Chuck) basically founded. These four albums are recognized as simply 4 of the all-time greatest in metal. And that's not just a stupid public opinion--it's absolutely fucking true.

In what way is Death better than Carcass? Every album, with the exception of Swansong (still an incredible album, but not by the Carcass standard which is impossibly high), is a complete masterpiece. This album alone could top anything put out by Death, ever. I love Death, don't get me wrong, but the simply cannot compete with Carcass. "An encloaking, dark epoch In which all life is now appraised Another valueless commodity On which the paracious may feebly graze"

Carcass is fantastic, but I'm sorry, you're delusional if you think they're better than Death.

Nope. Death can't even compete.
