A beautiful piano solo which combines two of the most famous pieces of music ever written - "Canon in D" by Johann Pachelbel, and "Ode to Joy" by Ludwig van Beethoven.

Pachelbel thrived in the Baroque period, but much of his music was forgotten until the 20th century, and this piece was first published in 1919. A canon is a piece of music in which several voices play the same music entering in sequence.

Beethoven was born 64 years after Pachelbel's death, by which time Baroque music was considered quite old-fashioned. "Ode to Joy" is a a poem by Friedrich Schiller, and is best known for its use in the final movement of Beethoven's ninth symphony.
