On the road againWell, I'm so tired of crying, but I'm outon the road again.I'm on the road again.Well, I'm so tired of crying, but I'm outon the road again.I'm on the road again.I ain't got no womanJust to call my special friend. You know the first time I traveled outin the rain and snow,In the rain and snow. You know the first time I traveled outin the rain and snow,In the rain and snow.I didn't have no payroll,Not even no place to go.And my dear mother left me whenI was quite young,When I was quite young. And my dear mother left me whenI was quite young,When I was quite young. She said "Lord, have mercyOn my wicked son."Take a hint from me, mama, pleasedon't you cry no more,Don't you cry no more.Take a hint from me, mama, pleasedon't you cry no more,Don't you cry no more.'Cause it's soon one morningDown the road I'm going. But I ain't going down thatlong old lonesome roadAll by myself. But I ain't going down thatlong old lonesome roadAll by myself.I can't carry you, Baby,Gonna carry somebody else.

Nice job,Ray.I used to think he was bending the blow note, hitting an overtone on the 5 hole when I first heard it,but then I figured it out.Hell that was back in 73 or 74 when it came out.I realized Allan used to put chromatic reeds on the upper registers on his harps to enable him to bend those higher notes on a diatonic harp.I think he might have also used one of the brands of diatonics that come with the reeds, but I'm sure he did what most guys do and thats just call Hohner and get the reeds and put them on yourself.Ray demonstrates the use of those reeds at around 3:22.However,Ray also demonstrates how special Allan was .Allan not only had one of the best tones ever, and was absolutely one of the most melodic, talented harmonica players of all time(the solo in Boogie Chillun on Hooker n Heat is THE best harp solo ever)but his timing was phenomenal,he knew that more isn't always better.I loved how he'd change harps in songs.Check out the side of Hooker n Heat with just Allan and John Lee.Probably the best harp playing you'll ever hear. The only thing that comes close is Butterfield's version of Everything's Gonna be Alright at Woodstock and Little Walter in Mellow Down Easy.Funny thing all the guys I mentioned never really used the upper registers, like a lot of the modern players, well, modern mainstream guys. But you'll never hear a bluesman use the higher registers unless he's playing in first position
