Club Med Sucks isn't about middle-class punks at all. It's about the universality of teen angst. Even preppy boys in Lacoste hit the point where they want no part of their parents' death culture, just want to hang out at the beach, and put on helmets and whack each other with sticks. So the beach is in Newport. So what?You can look at this as sympathy, excoriating satire, or both at the same time. They all work.I just want to know how a bunch of guys from NoCal nailed the whole New England preppy boy 'rebellion' so perfectly — forsaking Club Med and golf for Lacrosse. I taught at a 'selective New England liberal arts college' in the NESCAC, and 'manhood' in that vibe was ALL about Lacrosse.I've never been able to figure out how Opi Rides Again fits in though.11 years ago
