I knew Nathan Abshire I grew up in Basile louisana..home of Dewey Balfa who let me play some gigs with him as his way of encouraging me ...I love that guy he was a real pure Cajun artist promoted wonderful Cajun music....Nathan and believe Mr.Dewey. played at the frontier lounge..bearcat lounge. Brecks, the and the famous Rundevou...on hwy 190...were the pine grove boys many local Cajun bands and played frequently... I listened to the wondweful Cajun thru the back doors and the open windows.. there was no air conditioning..i was way too young to go into a bar but I found a way....I spent my life playing music and im proud to have returned to my native region... Cajun Music and zydeco have a way of reaching your soul and making you dance the happy dance....

The last phrase about her dress being torn is "je vas pas t'acheter un autre" translates to "I'm not buying you another one".

I think he is saying "ta robe a été toute déchirée, j'en vais pas acheter un autre" or en Englais, "your dress is torn and I'm not buying you another". Sorry I cannot write in French. She slipped back over the fence and tore her dress.

Yeah I have heard of in the pines. I also think the live version here is much better. The good times are killing me!

Actually listening again I think he sings "Tu vas pas t'en acheter, non", which makes more sense (tho he's still in charge) ... Definitely a suspicious song (like 'In the pines' / 'Where did you sleep last night?' which it's kind of a version of), tho in the recorded versions the last line is 'ça m'fait d'la peine pour toi', which makes things a bit more plaintive overall. Btw in the studio recordings you can make out his gf's responses to his questions properly (altho I love this version).
