Most guys don't get one shot at superstardom. These 2 megalomaniacs (Appice & Bogert) hold the all time record for blowing it not once, not twice, but three times! Vanilla Fudge, Cactus & BBA were all super groups and potential cash cows. Each time, they carried on like spoiled brats, let their fans down and left a trail of shit that stinks to this day. Rusty Day, one of the best front men I ever saw, was so deeply immersed in the business of drugs that it cost both he and his 13 year old son their lives - dead in a hail of bullets. Jim McCarty, who always handled himself in a dignified manner, is truly a guitar legend and a bonafide gentleman of rock!

rusty day, the singer, prefered to call it "sonic rock", because they ltend to focus on the sound. a lot of folks call it southern rock, in 1976, rusty reformed the band in florida & toured throughout the southeastern states of america. not only that, but rusty had befirended MOST members of lynyrd skynyrd @ this point (in particularly steve gaines). the only members he had not met (that i'm aware of) r ronnie vanzant, bob burns, & ed king. i KNOW he met steve gaines & rossington-collins.

this is the take that they SHOULD'VE used on the restrictions album, if you ask me. much longer, & much better.

i'm especially a fan of rusty day. he was associated with the amboy dukes, the detroit wheels (taking the place of mitch ryder), & (the band i heard of him from in the 1st place) lynyrd skynyrd.

It is unfair that Cactus never became superstar because it was a tremendous band with an explosive sound and perhaps much more innovator than others.Jim McCarty is a knife playing with a savage virtuosity, a very original guitar-player that should be studied and interviewed by guitar magazines to teach new generations to inspire souls to play better and not automatically as robots.
