cream magazine (a new york magazine for musicians) called them the american led zeppelin in 1971. i have no idea how hardly anyone has ever heard of rusty day other than the die-hard lynyrd skynyrd fans (he met, befriended, & jammed with most of skynyrd's original members, in particularly steve gaines. he never met ronnie vanzant, ed king, or bob burns unfortunately. he became bandmates with steve in the band detroit in late 1972 - early 1974, and jammed with rossington-collins in 1979.).
