From 1984, so right at the very end of what can be considered new wave and drifting into the Krautrock again. Their early stuff is very underrated and very mixed in styles

What do you say when confronted by the reality of brilliant spelunking of the human mind? Butthole mudda scratching surfers.

A truly beautiful song -- lyrical -- which is not a term one usually thinks of with the Butthole Surfers. Yet here on their first album, full of chunky grit, here is a little piece of crystal or porcelain in the beat-up motel room, as sirens rear outside. One is riding a Greyhound bus, people coughing all about, the journey continues ... Beautiful.

I'm 14 and I've been morphed into a surfers fan due to a childhood of the surfers being played daily in the car. My dad has taught me to love music more than most people. The surfers will never die.

When we were kids we would drop some tabs, lay around in the dark on comfortable pillows with lotsa pens pencils markers and paper. One candle was lit in the middle of the room on the floor. We would take turns dancing over the candle while the rest would lay back studying the shadows on the ceiling while we passed whatever we had to smoke, drinking whatever we had to drink. Cherub was always my favorite to candle dance to. BHS CLASSIC
