The second of three unsurpassed singles, right in a row...(It was preceded by "Look Through Any Window," and followed by "Stop! Stop! Stop!") Addendum:In 2016, I will have lived with this magnificent single for 50 years......and tonight (9/22/14) it just dawned on me for the first time, critical listener that I am, that there are no electric guitars on this track... ...the only non-acoustic instrument is the bass.(I'd make mention of the fact that the high-harmony voice you hear here is Graham Nash, but you all already know this, I'm sure.)

I was 12, and had liked British Invasion groups, since 9. Mother said later that she'd liked 'cute groups', like Herman's Hermits, but, I never heard her say anything of the art, at he time. She did like Gary Lewis and the Playboys, though.

Part of what happened with music in the 60s was new songs rooted not in jazz, blues, or earlier popular music, but using melodies and harmonies that went all the way back to classical -- the little songs that composers like Bach and Handel could create daily. This is one of them; "Look Through Any Window" by the Hollies is another. Other bands also did classically-styled songs, and there are too many of them to mention. Why? Because these musicians had training in classical music.

I'm 66 now and still love this group. As good as the Beatles back then. What a great time to grow up in - music wise I mean.
