He wasn't about to die, nor was this one of his last solos. He died in 1942!!

It will be one of my favorites also, the vocal is lovely and Bunny's solo is gorgeous. Not unusual for Bunny. I wouldn't change a note.

Dude, Bunny was not James. He was bombed out of his mind most of the time from the age of 25 on. It took its toll. But he was the greatest story teller on the trumpet in the Swing Era. Who else? Roy Eldridge? Read Schuller's appreciation of him. Then get back to me.

This song is very sweetly done but I cannot get worked up about Berigan. He is a good trumpet player.- but not nearly in the also rans for being called GREAT or THE BEST. I respect him and admire his ability but he was not in this or last century among the best.

He was a little shaky because he was about to die. This was one of his last recorded solos. He would be dead in about a month from a personal life devoted to disappation.. Even at death's door he is able to wring out a level of emotion that brings a tear to my eye. Although his technique is no longer what it was when he was with Dorsey, he always extends his line just a little farther than you expect. It is his swan song and one of my all time favorites

I've always loved Bunny Berigan and he is fabulous on this record but somebody...please...enlighten me...who is this angel doing the vocal? Kathleen Lane...not familiar with her but I want to be! What a gorgeous tone! Such tender phrasing! Enchanting!

Beautiful record! For the full story of it, and the rest of Berigan's music and life, check out the new biography of him: "Mr. Trumpet--the Trials, Tribulations and Triumph of Bunny Berigan" by Michael P. Zirpolo. For info, search Mr. Trumpet.
