I am not sure why you think Buddy wrote the song. According to several sources includingThe liner notes Julie wrote the song about her older brother who was struck by lightning and killed when she was a child. Buddy wonderful contribution as well as that of the keyboard player provide a tremendously haunting and delicate Arrangement.

Thank you for reminding me why I never comment on YouTube videos. Why would you assume I am not aware of Buddy's role in the equation ? As far as my choice of adjectives they were indicative of how Julie's lyric touched me. You are welcome to choose yours to express yourself.

Julie Miller is a seductively brilliant songwriter. If one slows down long enough to appreciate the depth of her emotionally honest lyric. I can't play/perform this song with out tearing up.Thank you Julie.

Patty Griffin's harmony vocals are so delicate here. She and Julie, with such different vocal qualities, sound perfect together. I love the contrast between this song and Patty's harmony with Buddy on "Chalk," which is full of power and longing. I love this album, and these two tracks always stood out to me.
