This incarnation of Bachman-Tuner Overdrive (but billed as BTO since Randy Bachman owned the rights to the Bachman-Turner Overdrive name) was made up of Fred Turner (original bassist but moved to rhythm guitar), Blair Thornton (moved to lead guitar), Robbie Bachman, and former April Wine bassist Jim Clench, and released 2 albums; "Street Action" (1978) and "Rock & Roll Nights" (1979). Turner & Clench shared lead vocals on both albums. This incarnation managed to chart on Billboard's Hot 100 chart in 1979 with "Heartaches", which became the band's last US charted single. "Heartaches", featuring Turner on lead vocals, peaked at #60. Even though Randy Bachman was not in the band at the time and die-hard BTO usually associate Bachman as the leader and lead singer, this song still should have received the better chart fate it rightfully deserved.
