Kill Devil Hills off Bruce's 2005 album Tyranny Of Souls.

The song is about the Wright Brothers flight at Kill Devil Hills North Carolina.

Blood brothers of angels now hear us

We earthbound your offspring, don't fear us

God willing, we'll rise up, be near you

So open your arms now, and take us

So we're breathing our dreams, like the Icarus of old

The plans we made for the bold

In the blue-eyed beyond, there's nowhere to hide

There's no going back now

As the wind whips over the hillside

20 knots over Kill Devil Hills

Steady wind blows over the sand

20 knots over Kill Devil Hills

As the breeze whips straight as an arrow

Let her go over Kill Devil Hill

Gasoline and wind in the wires

Kill Devil Hill and the way to the stars

We stand on this seashore and wonder

What madness, what secrets we plunder

All failure we learn from, discovery

The wreckage of heaven lies on the sand

First chance is abandoned

With wood string and wire

We can barely control our desire for destiny's arrows

As the wind whips over the hillside

20 knots over Kill Devil Hills

Steady wind blows over the sand

20 knots over Kill Devil Hills

As the breeze whips straight as an arrow

Let her go over Kill Devil Hill

Gasoline and wind in the wires

Kill Devil Hill and the way to the stars

Where are those secrets, holding our dreams?

Where are those secrets, holding our dreams?

Where are those secrets, holding our dreams?

Where are those secrets, holding our dreams?

Il sont les premiers pour le vol _motorisé contrôlé plus lourd que l'air_ en 1903. Clément Ader, français lui est à l'origine de la même chose en 1890, mais apparemment non contrôlé. Mais tout cela fait encore et toujours débat...

Still, Gustave Whitehead flew first.

The Wright brothers footage shown here is not from Kill Devil Hills but the Hoffman Prairie - where they perfected their machine.

I have a certain distinction that the autur likes flying, you know, above ground. Like a human who isn't supposed to do the thing, you know. Have you ever wanted to fly?

@Daslatcher That's what I said too. The song title has no "s" but the location in North Carolina does.

If I had to choose only one favourite Bruce Dickinson song, this would be it! I get tingles up the spine everytime I listen to this! "Kill Devil Hill and the way to the stars..." It's also very profound lyrically, seeming to suggest that perhaps we originated from the stars, and our desire to escape the limitations of gravity will send us back there. Excellent work on the video images from Kill Devil Hills! :D
