It's strange hearing this song performed in such an upbeat way... neat though.

Claude was my great great great uncle my daddy's from Pennington Gap VA. I wish I would've got to meet him I love his voice man he could bring down a house. My grandpa used to preach in the little church on Puckets creek we go to church there when we go down to visit my brother helped restore the church before he passed away what a blessing it will be when we all get to meet up in heaven.

@lancethrustworthy In the same way I don't think Invaders Must Die or Birdsong actually took over Florence's voice for committing Avicide, the point you assert is unimportant This is a great song and a great performance. Those are the issues of relevance.

No matter what people believe, artistically Brother Claude Ely's rendition of this song is powerful and moving, just as much as music from any other culture group, whether American Folk, International Rock, African, Classical European, Japanese, Reggae or any other -- it doesn't matter. There isn't just one kind of music that's good, just as there isn't one sole point of view that's true.

I enjoy this so much, I was born & raised in Puckett's Creek, Virginia & was al little girl when Rev. Claude Ely preached at our church and lived right across from it. I have always wondered where his kids are. If any of you read this please let me know where you are. Pauletta Kegley

AMAZING!! I never had the pleasure of meeting him because he died a few yrs before I was born, but my parents knew him very well. My Mom grew up with his daughter, my Godmother, and they all were a part of his congregation at Charity Tabernacle. Mom says she never met a more holy man. She said that he always said that when it was his time he wanted to be taken in church, which is what happened. I wished I could have been to one of his services. You can hear the joy in his voice.

Hi, My Daddy was a first cousin to Claude Ely. His name was James Witt and they were both born Pennington Gap, Va. I remember going to church and listening to Claude sing and preach. He was a true man of God. We need more men and women like him in today's world.
