More laid back sounds – this time I’m ‘going country’ again which I do a lot. I’ve listened to the original or this tune by Roger Miller and even like that version which is very different from this. Just a good song imo. #BrooksDunn

Love this song.... however, B&D sang this song 100 times better (more emotional) than Roger Miller, IMHO (with no disrespect to Mr. Miller of course.) Oh... and Neil Diamond's version was HORRIBLE!!! Again, I just feel that the emotional delivery was done better by B&D... Beautiful song, regardless.... Enjoy!!

I don't this Brooks and Dunn was trying to discount Roger Miller's genius, they were actually paying tribute to it. I sing Karaoke and I can appreciate singing a great classic. You introduce the song to a whole new generation.

...to follow up and slightly OFF subject I see people every day playing guitar licks, singing difficult songs, COPYing old hits and saying crap like "I'm BETTER than THAT guy was". Well, I'm sorry folks, but MY answer would be dude, it took you 30 years to learn what THAT dude did in a 3 minute take in 1970 something. Don't be bragging TOO Much.

If you can't follow in the exact footsteps of a GREAT singer and a GREAT song then you best pack it up. Not to take anything away from B and D, but the WORK was already done....and done MANY years ago. So, actually, you COULD say that it took B and D 35 years to get right what Roger got right WAY back then.
