RESURRECTION

I don’t think the Resurrection video has been seen in the media very much - and certainly never in this high quality, now remastered by our brilliant team, especially for this new BM Youtube Channel. For me, it reminds me of an era that is almost gone from my memory; when I was convinced, following the loss of Freddie, that my destiny out there was as some kind of singing guitar hero. I poured a massive amount of energy into the track … inspired by the work of the fabulous Cozy Powell, who had thrown in his support in a massive way, propelling me forward, out of the dark place I’d found myself in after Freddie passed away.

So the musical part of this is something I’ll always be proud of. The video is really a separate vision. I collaborated with the H-Gun team, to make a clip which took the track into a different universe … for fun and entertainment, and perhaps to tear myself further away from the real underlying pain which gave birth to the song. Cozy and I spent a day surrounded by chemical bonfires, in a film studio in LA - being hooligans and heroes and having great fun. Enjoy !

About my new YouTube channel:

The official BRIAN MAY CHANNEL is designed to carry anything on film or video that relates to me [Brian May] outside Queen - to replace all the bits and pieces of music video that are currently around out there with new highest quality versions, and fill in the gaps; and to cover under one umbrella the other areas that I operate in … Stereoscopy, Astronomy, and my animal welfare work through my charity the Save Me Trust. Each of these areas will have their own playlist on the Brian May channel. But the intended pivot of it all is the entirely new part that we’re calling Brian Talks. This section will carry current ‘to the camera’ comments, updates and communications, and I’m hoping it will be a proper ‘voice’ for me, an outlet, as well as a way of glueing together the rest of the channel.

P.S I remember listening to the Howard Stern interview with Brian when he was promoting his new band and CD and how Howard had the audacity to nit pick this song apart and generally be completely rude to Brian through the entire thing. As usual Brian handled that insulting idiot with his usual class and sophistication. Brian truly is the biggest class act in rock and let's not forget....the Guvnor!

This has got to be Brian's greatest solo work ever! I have to say as hard if not harder than anything put together by Queen yet it still retained that Queen sound we all know and love. Too bad about Cozy Powell however, he was an amazing percussion machine! I could only imagine the music Brian could have made in the future if Cozy were still around. He breathed a lot of new life into Brian and got him motivated to get out there and play his heart out despite trying to get over the loss of Freddie. On a lighter note, the song Last Horizon was the most "beautiful" song composed by Brian or any other guitarist for that matter. It really stirs a lot of out of it's listeners. That's why Brian and Queen will always be so unique and amazing. They can play the hardest rock or the most heartfelt ballads and or instrumentals. I remember playing Last Horizon for some friends at work when it first came out and they said "wow that's awesome. Is that new Pink Floyd"? I really had to laugh. Of course I live in America where all most people know about Queen is We Will Rock You and Bo Rhap. I suppose I'm an oddball and have always preferred brit or euro rock to the same old garbage shoved down out throats in American radio but still I could not believe most American's ignorance by not recognizing Brian's amazingly unique sound. Just mind boggling! Also, not to be overlooked in how amazingly improved Brian's vocals were on this CD compared to the past. He really proved himself as a true front man as well as the amazing guitarist he's always been.

This album is so CRIMINALLY UNDERRATED and unnoticed, it's nuts. To me this is a Top 10 album of all time. People who miss this album and song have no BLOODY CLUE what they're missing.

Bri, love Resurrection but you need to upload the "Too Much Love Will Kill You"video as well. It is difficult to watch, understanding the depth of heartache where the song came from, but despite all of that, it is such a lovely song and video. I hope you will add it soon.
