Brian May (28 July 1934 - 25 April 1997) was an Australian film composer. May took training at the Adelaide Elder Conservatorium as pianist, violinist and conductor. Brian joined the Australian Broadcasting Commission and organized the ABC Adelaide Big Band then, at age 35, Brian went on to arrange and conduct the ABC's Melbourne Show Band. For the ABC May began writing and arranging themes for ABC television programs with great success. Leaving the ABC in 1984, Brian May ventured into success as a feature film composer and orchestrator. From the more than 30 feature films he scored the most recognized are 'Mad Max', 'Mad Max 2' and 'Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare'. Brian May's productions for Starborne are often recognized by their more "up-front" melodies and arrangements.
