Do you think they play this track when the College of Cardinals meets in the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican? "Greetings pope-pickers!"

@djonshore> Fatboy Slim never remixed this title. Maybe he played it during a dj set but it's the Propellerheads who remixed it in their title Crash!

My father produced Pick of the Pops while Alan was the DJ and I can confirm that this is the original version used on the programme until it was changed to the Brass Incorporated one in 1969. Fluff was the best DJ of them all.

The tune's been stuck in my head for days now... it's great! Is what we're hearing taken from the vinyl? If so it's amazingly good quality. Many people say that they prefer vinyl recordings to CD, that they have more character to them.

This was the original theme used between 1961 and 1966. Between 1966 and 1970 'Quite Beside The Point' by the Harry Roberts Sound was used. From 1970 onwards the Brass Incorporated version of the Brian Fahey tune has been used.

@FunkyM217 Crash! by the Propellerheads was used by Radio 1 from 1999 to early 2003, when Wes Buttons took over the helm of the chart DJ. The Fatboy slim remix was used from the autumn of 1997 to 1999, I have recordings of it on Minidisc and tape.

Thank you so much for uploading this. I finally found the version I've been looking for. Norman Cook AKA Fatboy Slim remixed this for the Official UK Top 40 on BBC Radio 1 from 1997 to 1999.

Fluff took over from David Jacobs for POTP I think in 1962, up to then it went out on The Light Programme at 10.40, Saturday Night .I remember listening to it on WW 2 headphones in bed connected to a radio in my parents' bedroom !.DJ used I think a Harry James track but when this Brian Fahey track came in on Sunday afternoon it was quite radical and up to date, just suiting Fluff's personality. As Jim says it was ' updated ' as it was considered much later to sound ' old fashioned !.

@jimmytheferret - Unlike many commenters on this site, i respect your knowledge on this subject and stand corrected. Being only 50 years young I grew up listing to the later version and it is set in stone in my little mind - never the less - Great post !

Oh yes it is. This was the original version used until about 1969 when he changed to the recording by Brass Incorporated.
