PRESENTED BY JOANNE COLLINS
PRODUCED BY IAN RICHARDS, MIGUEL AHUMADA, ELIE, PERRIER & JOANNE COLLINS
Blending folk, blues and acoustic pop to taste, Brian Casey's debut solo EP 'Plain Sailing' is a collection of songs that find things to be positive about in the face of poor weather and bad news.
Returning to his native West Cork in 2012 after 4 years of college to start a recording studio in the middle of nowhere, inspiration for such songs was more than plentiful.
Over the following months, in between recording rock bands and producing hip-hop records for others, ideas for a more organic and personal sound began to take shape in studio.
Airing out new songs in local pubs and music venues at weekends with nothing but a voice, acoustic guitar and the free flowing drumming of a good friend, figuring out what to say and how to say it became a natural reflex with each new tune. Measuring original material against the work of musical greats past and present, over time, local patrons began to listen as closely to songs by Brian Casey as they did to the old favourites.
For someone who as long as he can remember has crossed genres and grabbed every instrument within reach to make sounds of his own, each of the 5 tracks on this first release are merely the starting point for future songs inspired by what we can only hope to be fairer weather and better news.
