Lee sings soulful R&B. This 1970 release was #37 on the Adult Contemporary chart and #97 on the Hot 100.

Songwriters: Toni Wine and Irwin Levine

We go out skating, on ice slowly melting

And someday I think we're gonna drown

You're your own person, just the same way that I am

So sometimes we get each other down

Then I replace you, with a perfect body

A pretty face, but no mind

And I find feelings are coming back to me

And I think I love again

Dancing together on thin lines of parting

Weighing the future all alone

Wondering where is forever

Is it somewhere in the sky?

Or just a place, you call home

Sometimes while smiling

In the middle of the night time

As I taste this stranger's kiss

Oh, I miss you baby

And feelings are coming back to me

And I think, I love you again

And I think, I love you again

Baby, I know I love you again

Sometimes while smiling

In the middle of the night time

As I taste this stranger's kiss

ooh, I miss you baby

And feelings are coming back to me

And I think I love you again

I think I love you again

Don'tcha know that I know,

I know I love you again

Come on back, come on back to me

Whoa, I'm lonely, lonely can't you see

I think I love you again

Mr C's Rant

Brenda Lee was only 25 years old in 1970, an age when many artists still carry the "young" or "up and coming" labels. In many ways, her decline was overstated. She was still an international star with a full schedule of concerts, club dates and television appearances on the calendar. The only thing missing were hit records. In that regard, her own record company proved to be the worst enemy. They were very slow, for instance, to promote "Johnny One Time" when it unexpectedly hopped onto the country chart. That now classic Grammy nominated track failed to make the top 40. Lee's "Memphis Portrait" R&B album was made in Memphis with producer Chips Moman and received critical acclaim but the LP was again underpromoted. The single, "I Think I Love You Again", was written by Moman's wife, Toni Wine. It was "barely released" according to one source. The neglect by the record company continues even today when you consider that her albums with big hits like "Too Many Rivers", "Coming On Strong" and "Johnny One Time" remain out of print and digitally unavailable.

Mr C's Amazin' Fact #1

Her record company has never re-issued any of her early albums on CD. Fans must rely on imports from Germany, the UK and Japan. [Note: they did re-issue the Christmas album but messed it up badly. Eventually they did issue an excellent Christmas album with extra tracks but that didn't happen until 2003!]

Elvis must have had a gigantic fan base since he had 18 number one records and Brenda only had one as popular as she was.

This is one of her greatest songs. This recording is only found on the Memphis Portrait album. And it is not on any compilation of her hits. Why this recording was only #37 is one of the great mysteries of music history.
