1958...between May and the end of June...Brenda Lee came in to compose, "Hang down your head Tom Dooley," rite? And, 3 banjo players showed up but rather than picking one they were formed into one to be named, "The Kingston Trio". So, it would have been 11 as 12 was in the fall.

You may be confusing Brenda Lee/composer with Dale Allen (daughter of Dale Evans) who Brenda brought in to do covers around 1956/57 after an attack on children at the Balsam Creek Public School (privately owned) wherein the kids were tortured & mutilated. Dale Allen was mistaken for me & her arm was cut off. Most boys & girls had their ovaries/balls cut out. Those that survived rec'd ovaries not necessarily theirs...like me. I always insisted that if I ever made it to Heaven, I was taking Dale Allen with me...cause we have a case of law. It's a childish thing. But, Dale and I have squared off before over copyrights. My share goes to the float to pay for records/CD/DVD's etc and Dale receives a small portion. Dale could apply for Old Age Canadian pension but many in Balsam Creek pre 56 were aliens?

Elsie Wigle's cousin Sophie Tucker was also a scriptwriter and composer which had a great influence on Brenda Lee by not permitting Brenda to go on home stage without her own poems starting at age of 2. Rhyming is extremely important in composing but Sophie Tucker/Elsie Wigle/John Barrymore would know at what age Brenda started composing. I do believe Brenda was in town pre 12, age 11, for the pre movie, "The Parent Trap".

I guess I am thinking of the song, "We just couldn't say goodbye" pre Little Rascals...pre Darla. Joe Kennedy may have claimed copyright for the Vanderbilts (cousin to Elsie Wigle) right? Elsie Wigle was also a composer. SOooo, you sound Hollywood. Know of any musician interested in composing music with me in Toronto this spring...classical for, "The Syrian". The music is in my head. I need a takedown. Can't help? C'est dommage!

Runt Wars had 1 Brenda Lee song pre 12. Do you mean recordings as a record deal or recordings on stage? There was a pre 12 visit before a fall birthday which would confirm some recording dates at age 11. There was the composer/singer but Dale Allen (with prothesis) also did covers after 1957 as did Debbie Reynolds, rite? The Brenda Lee - Rock-ABye Baby Blues (1957) is from a school photo as held by the North Bay, Ontario school board but there were other photos, here & there, of Brenda Lee pre 12 slotted in as taken in the Balsam Creek, Ontario homes.

Great cover... one legend singing and another legend songwriting. Hard to believe she's only 12 in this recording her voice belies her age.

I'm not sure why this is ?1957? Cause Brenda was a professional singer as young as four. This was more like 1953...before the age of 9 which fits the dress style. B was told that "sex" sold and read books and took notes from teenagers to sale records to produce taxes to up help for the government, Salvation Army. B was a spokeperson for the Red Cross at age ?3 or 6 in the USA during a vacation stent.

Mostly Brenda

The greatest recording ever made by a 12 year old. Yes, I've listened to Stevie and Michael and they are good for their age. This performance, however, is great and great for singer of any age.
